General Information
The city was developed by WCI Communities (also known as Coral Ridge
Properties), an American home builder. The company offers single family and
condominium homes. The city's name is derived from the company's name. Despite
the name, there are no springs in the city. The city follows the the
council-manager form of municipal government, with all governmental powers
resting in a legislative body called a commission. The property crime levels in
the city tend to be lower than Florida's average level.
Demographic Information
Coral Springs is located in Florida's Broward County in United States. It is
situated around 13 miles from Fort Lauderdale and 18.8 miles from Pembroke
Pines. The city was officially chartered in July 10, 1963. Coral Springs is
located at 26°16′14″N, 80°15′33″W (26.270658, -80.259163). According to the
United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 23.93 square miles
(61.98 km). The city is situated at 13 feet above the see level. As per the 2006
U. S. Census Bureau estimation, there were 138,021 people, 44,315 households and
35,928 families residing in the city. The population density was 5,772.5/mi²
(2228.7/km²). The city is bordered by the cities of Parkland to the north,
Tamarac to the south, Margate and North Lauderdale to the southeast, Coconut
Creek to the east and Everglades to the west.
